Temperature should be in the mid twenties Celsius, with a localised heat spot of around 30 to 35 degrees provided by way of a spot bulb and regulated using a thermostat. If you must use real plants then use various Bromeliads, Pothos, Strelitzia (bird of paradise plant) Philodendron and Ivy’s all work well. Various sturdy branches should be included and live plants can be included, but fake plants will work just as well. The humidity should be constantly kept in the high 70’s with a bowl of water provided that is deep and large enough for the frog to fully immerse itself but at the same time shallow enough to allow the frog to climb out easily. An arboreal vivarium of around 3 foot long by 14 inches deep by 3 feet tall will adequately house 4 to 6 of these beautiful amphibians. Red eye tree frogs are quite energetic and will need a large vivarium to climb around in. Remember to only house similarly sized specimens together as some cannibalism can occur. There they develop until they metamorphosize and climb up into the canopy. As the frog wakes up it rapidly becomes a bright green colour and shows off its vivid blue sides which have creamy coloured bands, and its bright orange feet, but the most terrestrial lives in the treetops and don’t even leave the trees to spawn, rather they hang over a pool of water and drop their eggs into it. In the wild the red eye tree frog lives in the treetops where it hides during the day, covering its colourful areas with its legs and becoming a dull greenish brown colour. This is possibly the most famous frog species in the world, with its visage plastered all over cups, t-shirts, posters and just about any other gift item you can think of, it is a rainforest dweller from Costa Rica.
