The first several times I beat SMB3 I specifically saved cloud items and P-Wings just to skip those evil floating ships in World 8. I had beaten SMB many times before I felt comfortable in World 8. ![]() SMB and SMB3 are exactly the same - some tricky parts here and there gradually building up to be brutally difficult at the end. I found the game occasionally frustrating, but it doesn't start getting really brutal until the seventh level. The game is notoriously stingy with these items, and no, I most certainly do NOT want to rescue Toad to get more. Also, I'd like to know why collecting an extra fire flower in a stage doesn't add it to my inventory on the map screen. I'd very much like to play it with a Classic Controller or GameCube controller, and Nintendo won't let me because of the stupid tilty gimmicks in some of the stages. There are some other fairly minor issues I have with the game. Not particularly original, but pretty good. I think the game is pretty good in spite of the rage-inducing frustration. Hmm, I wonder what Miyamoto is trying to tell us about himself with that imagery?Īnyway. Dozens of massive black dildos with gold studs on them, violently thrusting up and down. Mess up your jump and down you go into a bottomless pit, forcing you to restart the level and brave the spiked dildos of doom to return to the boss fight. The trick is to jump from your top to his and stomp him, but that can be excruciatingly difficult since the tops are at different heights and you're usually riding the one at the bottom of the screen. He's the guy with the blue Mozart hair, and he rides on one of three small tops. I also had serious issues with the last boss of world seven. (Damn thing hurts, by the way.) Those Bullet Bills are seriously bad mojo when the cannons are moving up and down, the pipes you're standing on are moving up and down, and the Bullet Bills veer off in two different directions when they collide. After dying several times on the dancing pipes stage, I started bludgeoning myself with the Wiimote out of sheer rage. At least you were able to move after a second or two and WERE ABLE TO DODGE HIS ATTACKS! Am I the only one who thinks this game is too f-ing unbelievably downright impossible? I can beat SMB3 and Super Mario World, but THIS? I don't think even the auto-play feature would be enough to beat this one. If you stay on the ground when Morton or whoever it is lands on the ground, you can't move and DIE? LAME! That's not the way it was in SMB3. After tons of deaths, I was finally able to withstand the level 2 boss's ruthless attacks. I usually didn't play the game because it makes me yell and scream and curse at the Wii, but I popped in Super Mario Bros. ![]()
